Benefits of Cotton satin

Satin is not technically a material; it is a weaving technique.
It is created by weaving one thread under and three (or four) threads over. This process gives the fabric a glossy, silky finish.
At Tradition des Vosges, our satin features a thread count between 80 and 120 threads per cm², providing it with superior durability.
Ideal in any season thanks to its tight weave, satin keeps you warm in winter while remaining highly breathable in summer.
It’s a fabric that perfectly regulates body temperature, making it your go-to bedding choice year-round!
Additionally, this fabric is ideal for protecting your skin and hair. Satin doesn’t absorb beauty products or sebum, thus reducing the buildup of bacteria. Moreover, satin’s specific weave greatly reduces hair friction, helping to prevent tangles and unwanted frizz.
The benefits of cotton satin don’t stop there: more luxurious and warmer than percale, our Tradition des Vosges bedding sets will perfectly complement many bedrooms.
How to care for your cotton satin bedding?
To ensure a long lifespan for your satin bedding, it’s essential to follow a few precautions and establish the right care routine.
Step 1: Pre-wash. How to care for your cotton satin bedding?
First, turn the new bedding inside out and start with a pre-wash. A program at a maximum of 30°C is recommended, with 1/4 of the usual detergent dose. Pre-washing is essential to preserve colors and remove any finishing agents.
Always ensure not to include any other laundry with zippers, pins, or any small objects that could snag this delicate fabric.
Step 2: Washing
Tradition des Vosges satin bedding is machine washable at up to 40°C on a delicate cycle. A solvent-free detergent and reduced spin speed (maximum 900 RPM) are recommended.
For stubborn stains, apply a targeted stain remover beforehand. You can also add a dose of white vinegar to enhance the fabric’s softness.
At the end of the cycle, promptly remove the laundry to minimize wrinkles that may be difficult to iron out later.
Step 3: Drying and ironing
For optimal care, air drying is recommended. If this is not possible, a tumble dryer on a moderate setting (60°C) is also suitable to avoid premature wear on the fabric.
For ironing, set your iron to a maximum of 150°C. We recommend ironing on the reverse side to preserve the satin’s shine on the front over time.
